We stock a full range of tanning moisturisers to help prepare your skin to receive the benefits of UV exposure.  We also carry a full range of after-tan moisturisers that are designed to specifically extend the life of your tan.   We all know the importance of moisturising regularly and this should become part of everyone's tanning regime. Exposure to UV will dry your skin so it is very important that you keep your skin hydrated in order to keep it healthy and this is done through frequent moisturisation.

Moistuirising your skin is vitally important to prevent it from becoming too dry.  Remember, dry skin is dead skin! Another problem with dry skin is that it doesn't tan.  When you are tanning and you have dry skin the UVA and UVB rays that would normally absorb through your skin are actually reflected and therefore your skin will actually further dehydrate without a tan developing.

When you tan and expose your skin to sunlight you also need to prevent against free-radical damage (skin ageing). Tanning moisturisers contain more of the antioxidants that fight against free-radical damage than normal moisturisers.

Some tanning moisturisers also contain melanin enhancing boosters which also helps continue colour development in the days following your tanning session.

It is recommended that you always moisturise after having a bath of shower (or shaving your face/legs when your pores are open) whilst your skin is still wet as this moisture will help pull the moisturising lotion deeper into your skin.

Nearly all tanning moisturisers contain 3 very effective products: occlusive, humectant and emollient ingredients. To help retain the moisture in your skin cells occlusive ingredients such as petrolatum and parrafin form a barrier on the surface of the skin to pretect it from wind and dry air.  Humectant's such as glycerin, alpha hydroxy acids, sodium and sugars attract water deeper into the skin cells which artificially plums out the skin to temporarily remove the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Emollients such as mineral oils fill in the rough spaces between dying skin cells to smooth the surface of our skin.
